Just a reminder, there are tons of servers on the fediverse with quote toot feature, and they all follow the same standard. QOTO is a mastodon instance with Quote toots for example. Fedibird is also a very large server that is mastodon based that has the feature. All Misskey servers also have the feature.

@MrBerard On instances that dont support it you will see a text link to the original post where the quoted toot should be... So it does, sorta, work on instances that dont support it. At least as best it could.@mansuetus

@freemo mmm... I don't like it really. Is there an option to avoid it as a user, not giving permission to do it? If I move to an instance which doesn't support it, qoto or other instances which support QT can yet quote my posts? Is it a sensitive issue for me.

@kjr How is it sensative? Functionally speaking it is literally the same as someone posting a link to your toot in their own toot. The only difference is that link gets rendered rather than showing as a link. What exactly is the concern here?

@kjr Since it is functionally just someone pasting a link to a toot in a message how is it creating harassment that couldnt exist without the feature? I fail to see how rendering a link to a toot in and of itself causes harassment.

@kjr But to answer your question, yes if you move to another instance your toot can still be quoted even if your server doesnt support it.

@mansuetus It isnt a feature coded into vanilla mastodon. It is, however, in many code bases including mastodon forks like QOTO and fedibird.@MrBerard

@admin Yes its in the QOTO repo and the fedibird repo and likely quite a few other masto forks that support it. QOTO forked a long time ago so it wont be a clean match to 4.x however.@mansuetus @MrBerard
