I never watched any Star Trek when I was a kid but I really enjoy the 'new' Star Trek Picard! Patrick Stewart is such a great actor :blobcatgiggle: 🤩

@stux The 1080s Star Trek was great, but we called it “Yuppies on Space” at our house. Plenty of angst over issues not unlike the ones we wrestled with here on planet earth in that decade.

But as fun as it is :blobcatgiggle: "The Expanse" is still #1 for me by faaaar! :blobcatspace: Star Trek is super scifi and The Expanse 'more realistic' if it comes to space travel, gravity, weapons etc! The thing that always puts me off is the 'magic grabity' in most space related series. Luckily it's getting better bit by bit in general

@stux Farscape was fun, and I enjoyed Dark Matter as well - for sci-fi shows. Haven’t seen the Expanse yet. Firefly/Serenity enjoyed too.

@stux Years ago (1998) he was in a made for tv (HBO?) movie called Safe House -- it was the first time I truly realized what a great actor he actually was/is. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance.

@stux I love the Expanse also. You might like to read Spinward Fringe series by Randolph Lalonde. First is Spinward Fringe Broadcast 0 - Origins. There’s about 20 in the series so far. Would be great to see a tv version.

@stux I started binge watching The Expanse a week ago. It is fantastic! The realistic depiction of space travel is part of what makes it so good, along with the detective story in seasons 1 and 2 and the political intrigue throughout. I'm on season 3 now.

@stux ❤️❤️❤️ The Expanse! Everything about it: physics and technology as well as social and political developments. And some great actors and styling in the series. Such a shame the series ended so early and abruptly. We are reading the books to our son now 😊

@stux I like both the serie and the actors. Patrick Stewart should think about retirement though. I say the same for Clint Eastwood. once you (as an actor) start having problems talking or pronouncing words clearly, you should consider that.

@stux I haven't caught up with Picard yet, although I loved TNG growing up.I just finished Strange New Worlds, which was fantastic and really feels authentic to the original 60's show. Lower Decks is great also, very different in tone with everything else since it's mostly a comedy, but a ton of fun.

@stux I just rewatched an episode of #StarTrekVoyager where #SevenofNine tells the #Borg queen, after the queen waxes eloquent on Borg virtues, “maybe people would volunteer if you didn’t do that ‘resistance’ is futile thing.” Seven is one of my favorite characters because she points out awkward truths.
