If I had to guess it's because they have high population density but unlike a city nothing is reachable without a 15+ minute drive. In general the design of suburbs don't make much sense and they really only exist because non-White crime is forced on city dwellers and most people's only option is to move to the suburbs where blacks can't afford to live.

You have to drive everywhere, and often have to drive for a rather long time to get to work (45 minutes to over an hour each way). You also don't have the possibility for the same community life as cities used to, because it's hard to have large community gatherings. A little bit of suburbs right outside the city isn't a problem, but when it becomes the default mode of living for everybody it grows to an insane size. It's a waste of land, time and resources that people just wouldn't be putting up with if they felt safe in cities.The popularization of suburbs in American can be traced to blacks invading White cities during WW2 and jewish real-estate developers making a cheap buck of the Whites who were forced out of their homes by black crime. If cities were reasonable places to live for any Whites other than the upper middle class and upper class, suburbs would be much less popular. Now I don't begrudge people who live in the suburbs, because there really isn't another option for most people. But it would be nice if we could structure society in a way where people aren't forced to.
