Hello everyone 😺 Here is my #introduction. I am an American living in Europe just trying to figure out life. I am a #Montessori teacher-in-training and am interested in all things #EarlyChildhoodEducation, #videogames, and #memes related. I also love cooking and trying out new recipes. I am passionate about #ENM.I have three cats who I love dearly and am trying to befriend the local crow population by giving them walnuts and peanuts everyday. Nice to be here :)

Hi.Give the crows a bit of ham fat and they'll get fond of you real fast. Mercenary buggers they are, smart as whips though.

@CatsAndCrows Welcome to Mastodon! Our daughter loves her Montessori school! Given your gaming and education interests, I’d love to hear your thoughts about how games impact kids’ development.

@matt That's great to hear :) A bit of screen time isnt going to rot your child's brain, but its better to limit it as much as possible, esp < 3 years. 30 min while you make a healthy dinner isn't going to hurt the kid. For older kids, games can be a great way to bond with the family, and I strongly believe they can be appreciated as a form as art and have many teachable moments. The most important thing is making sure it is appropriate for your child and not over-doing screen time in general.

@CatsAndCrows Thanks for this! We keep entertaining the idea of getting our seven-year-old a Switch, but I worry about whether the screen time would dampen her interest in reading...
