       I wonder what the world is like if WebAssembly and some sort of very specific and highly limited browser subset becomes the primary way to make GUI apps.

       @endomain reminds me of what @alcinnz is trying to achieve with Rhapsode? Agreeing on the subset is the hardest part tho imho – I’m sure CSS is where people will put up the most fights, yet it’s my favorite thing about the web and my biggest concern is its use for antipatterns and other abuse

       @endomain @alcinnz There’s also the part about where you put dynamic code. His approach afaik, for instance, is merely considering the option of running WebAssembly as extensions, whereas I think that there should be a bigger focus in execution termination and granular permissions on top of the memory constrains WASM provides

       @xerz I'm not sure. The project appears to be hosted only on a server that's not around right now, so I can't look and see.The edges of it I can see imply that executable content isn't welcome on that project, which is the dual of what I'm wondering about here (where we have a "web browser" core tech box that is not for browsing hypertext, but rather reusing the underlying and mature tools for event driven visualization to propose a replacement to modern GUI toolkits in a way that's much easier to provide a security model and language agnosticism for.

       @endomain huh, that must be a DNS issue, loads fine to me :blobcatsweat: but ye, as I said, iirc he’s considering that no code is distributed from the action of browsing

       @xerz What site are you checking? I searched for "alcinnz" and "rhapsode" and got exactly 3 hits, all of which referred to https://git.nzoss.org.nz.Which, as you can see, is quite unreachable for me.

       @endomain ah, right, the Git repo…. that’s https://git.adrian.geek.nz/rhapsode.git
