@freemo hi. this will probably sound trivial, from someone who has only just started a server less than 2 months ago, but I have discovered today that many instances are blocking other instances which did nothing wrong but also did not find a valid reason to block instances which they block. how is this okay? as a person who believes in doing the right thing after checking facts (the way I moderate), all this is disheartening and makes me want to give up on Fediverse altogether.

@freemo unfortunately I have already found that webpage and one big, really sad text about some Snow dude. And life threats for joining?? All this is overwhelming.I have always strived to do no harm to anyone and I foolishly expect to be treated like that as well. Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated, basically. However, I think I just lost all hope today, lol.

@darth @freemo The left are philosophers and like to wallow in groupthink. Once you have a happy group thinking the same thing, you don't want any spoil-sports. So the inclination is to shut off any opinion that makes them unhappy. It only ends by disaster.

please don't generalize that authoritarian nonsense to all of us left-wingers. it's such an embarrassment that I even hesitate to consider it left wing. but even if it is, not all left-wingers are authoritarian, and not all authoritarian left-wingers engage in that embarrassing behavior.
