       @7 I'm a Canuck, and I'm in favour of MAiD. I've watched too many friends suffer needlessly, and for far too long. It's a mercy to have this, and having resources for families is good. I realize you're playing it a bit for laughs, and it is funny with the 1000 m view, but it's still important and a very humanist, caring policy.

       @evilgardengnome You would be hard-pressed to convince me that (1) a law (2) that has no guardrails constraining it to the terminally-ill or (3) effective oversight or second opinion systems, is humanist and caring. For the minority of people who are suffering who will take advantage of this, yes, it will be caring, but we've already seen that the doctors can't be trusted with the power. There is nothing dignified or humanist about being told to kill yourself because the doctors have no other power to help.
