       @EubieDrew @feditips @Mastodon @mastodonmigration @freemo If one is simply a consumer… does size really matter… if you can follow anyone from any instance…I like to think in terms of “fragmentation, segmentation, and specialization”.Is it best to be an instance member where the instance is huge but is general purpose… or be a member of an instance that serves a specific group with specific interests…Congruent with people’s tendency if not dependency to be part of a herd… 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

       @freemo @EubieDrew @feditips @Mastodon @mastodonmigration Opens a train of thought of:what does it take for a Post on an outlying instance to funnel into the Federated Feed … the Fedi stream of consciousness as it were…If user A is on a single user instance… but is followed by users from multiple large instances… will Posts from User A propagate… or must they be Boosted… if User A Posts like mad but is never followed… shouting into the void… voiced but voiceless… see next post…

       @freemo @EubieDrew @feditips @Mastodon @mastodonmigrationBefore making an instance public… I experimented…I created a user called “News”. I then went out and followed multiple admins and news producers… like 200 accounts…Then I viewed the Federated time line while logged out… and it filled up with Posts from those users I had previously followed via the News user.

       @freemo @mokana Other differences: Really large instances are overwhelmed (Of course, these are not normal times), and really small instances are not usually closely maintained.
