Finally got fenders for my bike and rode in the rain for the first time and...what have I even been doing up until now?All those days of wet shoes and pants. It didn't need to be that way!#BikeTooter

@wesley_cook wait until you hear about this thing called a car !it has heat/AC and is fullyu enclosed, so once you get in it, zero water on you !!and many car parking spots are under a roof, so maybe no water at all !!

@Hello57 I legitimately can't tell if you're joking or not but yes I do have a car and no I did not think it was necessary to use it to get my groceries today despite it being cold and raining

@wesley_cook I was only half joking in that, in general, humans, like most mammals, are pretty lazy and will, on avg, take the easy wayso getting people to bike in the rain is an uphill battleme, personally, I think this is a better alternative for many people, at least if you have $$https://www.vespa.com/en_EN/models/elettrica/

@Hello57 I agree that bikes are probably not for everyone, especially people who might not be able to ride due to mobility or disability issues. I think you'd be surprised at what many people are willing to tolerate though! It's really not the weather that keeps people from riding, but rather the lack of safe and comfortable infrastructure. The weather we're having in #Atlanta isn't much different than what they get in the Netherlands for example.

@wesley_cook I live in Newton, MA, an affluent, educated suburb of BostonNewton spent a fortune to put in bike lanes, eg on Washington Str/Rte 16 for ~ +-500 feet around the police stationIMO absurdist theater; the bike lane comes and goes, with 4 lanes of heavy traffic at each end and no bike parking !!

@jeff @wesley_cook J you may know that about 10 years ago, Newton decided to build a new High Schooland as was the law at the time, the commonwealth picked up much of the billNewton build THE most exspensive HS in, iirc, the country, everBeacon Hill had to change how it funded HS construction as a result[ from memory - some details maybe wrong, but gist is correct ]

@Hello57 this feels way too culty and excessively hyperbolic. i can understand the sentiment but i dont think it is so simple in reality. making it simple makes lots of money for yur blog tho.

@Hello57 i myself don't like that world view, i can understand how it happens. i am in reality a disenfranchised center left moderate who wants to have the institution deliver promises and not make promises they cant keep, the more failed promises the more qanon boomer retards are made. being stuck in the middle makes me a nazi to the progressives and a hippy libtard zionist to the rightwing. the only good part of trump was the complete obliteration of the neocons.
