open sourceCHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER[ ] - the infinite potential of all human creativity flowing into itself[X] - a single person's unwillingness to sacrifice total control of commit privileges making every line of code influence the trajectory of the best shot we've had at mass digital liberation in a decade with its ineffable cultural structuring

@datn standards are like language: the infinite potential of all human creativity flowing into itself, except a little more punctuated. i think standards might be more like a class alignment, where the Folksonomist would gain +1CHR negotiating over the arbitrary locality of the labor of standards implementation and the Authoritarian might gain +1DEX creeping their fist around the clutch of power

@datn it's like how a faraday cage distributes charge if you ground it but if you hold the ground line then you could get shocked. if standards allow for the dissolution of power they have one effect, if they become the conduit by which one entity can exercise power then they behave almost exactly oppositely, but within the same modality so the opposition is harder to recognize.

@datn So I have always wanted to play a high-50's superman-like comic RPG where an extremely irradiated person was able to express the power of the atom by harnessing it into useful power generation vs. dissipating it in radioactive emissions. You needed to do both, of course, but eg. as an alignment correction someone who had irradiated too much would destroy the organic life around them, but someone who electrified too much would destroy all computers. The curse of double abundance.

@jonny i like this “destroy all computers” thing.back to my original comment, tho: do you see other fediverse software as an antidote to Mastodon’s single-person rigidity?

@datn i see a #p2p fediverse with a fundamentally different but translation-compatible architecture of peer-centric #LinkedData-based mediums as the technical side of the antidote, with the social side always an echo of organize organize organize <3intro 2 federated p2p: https://archive.org/details/jls-defense?start=1399development into multi-interface evolutionary system: https://archive.org/details/jls-defense?start=1903
