@taylorlorenz Way for musk to walk further and further into the dictator trap. This Atlantic article is about Putin, but the process of purging anyone critical of the "glorious leader" is what creates the dictator trap.https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/03/putin-dictator-trap-russia-ukraine/627064/

@taylorlorenz this is incredible. Twitter — and Musk personally — are going to be inundated in lawsuits. Especially amazing: since I imagine many were fired for highlighting Musk’s misdeeds, many will surely file SEC whistleblower lawsuits alleging Musk/Twitter terminated them for exposing violations of SEC-enforced laws. Those judgments can be in the hundreds of millions, which plaintiffs (“relators”) keeping as much as 20% in some cases. Twitter and Musk won’t survive this…

@taylorlorenz a) get lawyers. b) hey maybe call the NLRB, because firing people for expressing opinions about working conditions to their coworkers is in fact protected.

@pthenq1 @taylorlorenz I live in the States. Yes people can be fired for 'misconduct.' This includes trash talking the boss and/or company.

@awgonnerman @pthenq1 @taylorlorenz I think Musk's play here is that by the time the lawsuits land, Twitter will already be bankrupt.

Damn you are starting to sound like a scorned wife whose husband traded you in for a new model. Not that you will ever have to worry about that happening in real life since you're about as fertile now as roadkill, but it would feel kind of similar for you I think.

@Zack101 @taylorlorenz That's bad management. You invite toxic positivity and repressed issues. It's healthier to have the lines clearly defined. Negativity, ok. Attacks, not ok. A code of conduct is reasonable, but a gag order is not.

@doctormo @taylorlorenz I was only commenting in general, if you talk bad about your employer/job on socials, you can expect to be unemployed. Many companies private and public have that policy. The whole twitter thing is a mess in and of itself.

@Zack101 @doctormo @taylorlorenz Most companies have had social media policies for a while now. It always amazes me when people get upset from being fired for a social media post.

@Zack101 @taylorlorenz You're amazed, that human people, as flawed as we are; are upset when bad things happen to them? 🤔 I think you mean that these people have no right to sympathy when those bad things happen to them. Though I disagree with this specifically. Because historically the powerful blame the victims of their arrogance and we should be mindful not to jump to believing the tailored morality handed to us by those in power.
