@stux House across the street from me burned down a few years ago. The old guy fell asleep smoking, I think.He was old and doing poorly. He died soon afterward, but of old age, not the fire.

We took videos of the billowing smoke and flames 🔥 and after 30 minutes we evacuated— in hindsight we should have packed better but we got out safely. Tragically 2 died. The city of Vancouver tore the building down and now there’s an empty lot…

His wasn’t as damaged as it might have been but the burns on his hands were terribly burned.In those days we didn’t know anything about shock or dealing with emergencies.60 years later it is still fresh in my mind.
