I was wondering.. Is there a site or platform where people(kids) can fill out their presents wishes for xmas or their birthday and people can buy it for them (anonymously)?

@stux I buy an assortment of the most popular toys or games, add some mittens, and donate it to our local food bank, they will add them to the holiday hampers they send out for families.

@stux We've been using Amazon Wish Lists for years. Kids - and anyone - can create a wish list and add what they'd like whenever (throughout the year even). Then, you can access that list and purchase the gifts. The creator of the list doesn't know which gifts have been purchased.

@stux you mean like a site where kids can make a list (or parents on behalf of) and it's public so anyone can just buy it? Like an internet global blue Santa? That's a wonderful idea but I fear it would be misused..

@stux If you're looking to help out families in need by giving gifts to the kids.. In the US, your local Rotary is a good place to go, most of them have giving trees with the names of needy families.

@stux Afaik not directly, but some webshops allow people to create so called whishlists to be shared. Like Amazon https://www.amazon.nl/hz/wishlist/intro or bol.com https://www.adformatie.nl/digital-transformation-tech/bolcom-lanceert-app-voor-verlanglijstje-sint for instance.

@stux the US Post Office, usps.com, has a thing called #OperationSanta, https://about.usps.com/holidaynews/operation-santa.htm, where you can do this, but it’s probably too late for this year.

@stux I don't know if it's still going, but in Poland we used to have this "secret santa" thing where kids would write letters to santa with their present wishes and anonymous people would buy these presents for them.

@stux I do have an amazon wishlist for things I want, and they can be bought anonymously (I have done that before, but not much, because it is Amazon).I think it would be a great idea. It is not dissimilar to an idea I have had to allow people to be bought things from anywhere based on a socmed handle or email address (with permission) - so I could buy people I know here things, without needing to know they address. There is a place for a gifting app I think - of some sort.

@stux not that I know of.Amazon Wishlists ain't an option as they comply to COPPA (Under-13 ain't allowed to use it) and Amazon in general doesn't allow Minors to have accounts. But I'd love to see such an option. The main problem would likely be to make it work with no way to d0x the reciever...So it would certainly require some proxy in between. And since that's ripe for abuse, it may have to implement mechanisms against money laundering and shit.
