       @Hyolobrika @jeffcliff@shitposter.club This rant conflates issues with the #publishing models, #academia and #peerReview. Yes, there are many problems but cause isn't peer #review itself. Academia and publishing are (turned even more into) businesses and therefore also breeding grounds for scams and deceit. At the same time, academia is also a place for pride and sense of duty which both can be and are exploited. Peer review simply reflects that but it isn't the cause.

       @Hyolobrika @jeffcliff@shitposter.club @academicchatter That rant conflates issues with #AcademicPublishing #academia and #PeerReview itself. Peer review has its problems, definitely, but as with most #academic issues they stem from academia being a competition for limited funds and for pride, not for the best ideas or collaboration. But not only #researchers compete, also #publishers compete for limited funds. As with any competition, there are always those who cut corners, who lie and fake. 1/
