       The quote tweet feature on can be used to 1) Appropriately credit/cite people2)Amplify people's voices and add context. Its not just a dog piling feature. I've found it difficult to rally people into action etc here which is one of the most important ways I've used Twitter. For example, when @refugeesinlibya are asking people to participate in a 2 day campaign etc.Also "dogpiling" is a very important feature of exposing racist institutions.

       @SFGreek @timnitGebru @refugeesinlibya Agreed that it can used for good! But it was very much abused on Twitter. So if we have it, there needs to be protections so the abuse can be mitigated. I want us to be better than Twitter, not just as bad.

       @scottjenson @SFGreek @refugeesinlibya yea but currently Mastadon is missing features used by marginalized groups and activists to raise awareness about their situation, which makes it akin to suburbia where people are having a "nice" "quiet" experience without the "rifraf."
