@DrLeonJ If you haven't already tried that, perhaps search for likely hashtags? E.g. #buddhism #yoga #mindfulness You may find them or other people worth following.

@mjausson Thank you! I periodically trawl hashtags, but this is a good reminder to do it again!

@DrLeonJ No need to trawl. Mastodon now lets you follow hashtags like you would follow people.

@DrLeonJ That said, I find the mindfulness hashtag and to some degree the zen hashtag are often used inappropriately. Lots of photos of sunsets or walks in the woods get tagged. Buddhism is less abused.

@ReadingFaithfully_org That’s why I prefer to trawl hashtags for people to follow rather than following the hashtags themselves.

@DrLeonJ Right. But when I do that I get even more useless posts because few people have "professional" or dedicated accounts. So even though they may post interesting things, say, on Buddhism, they also post about their dog, political beliefs, etc. So I tend to follow tags and then block or mute frequent tag abusers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
