One thing I do on #tilvids is try to reach out to video creators that I think would be a good alignment for our mission of edutainment content, and who also are a good mix of big enough to potentially bring some audience, but also small enough that we might be able to help them grow.Are there are edutainment video content creators out there we should reach out to? Leave some ideas in the comments, and maybe we can reach out and see if there's some interest!

@gnuntoo Ah, appears to be @TechConnectify ? Would love to host them on #tilvids (I've been watching for a long time). Probably a long shot since I'm guessing YT isn't a hobby, it's a business for them at this point. I'm really interested in cracking this nut though, and figuring out how to get YT'ers off that platform and onto #PeerTube It's in creators' best interest to eventually control their own means of hosting and distribution.

@TechConnectify @tilvids Yeah that’s the one. He does have a patron, so that’s a good start. 6,800 members. Not sure how much ad revenue creators get vs Patreon revenue, and I’m not sure what an alternative to ad revenue would be for peertube. Still, I feel like if you’re watching stuff on TILvids, you might not be giving ad revenue on YouTube anyway (Adblock).

@gnuntoo @TechConnectify Ultimately, it's up to the viewers to vote with their feet and wallets. So long as people continue to go to YT, creators are left with little alternative. If the #Mastodon community wants to encourage creators to leave YT, then they need to connect with creators, tell them to join/start a #PeerTube instance, and support them via Patreon, etc.We can build a decentralized platform, but if nobody is there to support it, then the platform might as well not exist.

@tilvids if I ever find one that fits the bill I'll send them a message. Even though I consume very little video content, I have a lot of respect for content creators. The consistency, the planning, the editing, the post... Then uploading and sharing and dealing with comments.

@tilvids @gnuntoo To give you my $0.02, it's going to be very hard to convince anyone to leave a platform which pays them to be there.YouTube is as dominant as it is, and as stable as it is, because it actually understands that the creators are its reason for being and follows through with that. That's why everyone who finds an audience on TikTok, or Vine in the past, or whatever ends up moving their audience to YouTube.

@tilvids one thing we need is a good application for tablets, phones and specially Smart TVs for Peertube. I use Thorium for Android, but it's not being updated since April and it doesn't have new features. I enjoy your content via computer, but it will help have more audience having more access from devices 🙂. Thanks for your work 😊.

@tilvids @gnuntoo @TechConnectify Just my small addition as a small creator on YouTube and Peertube-I can't possibly imagine leaving YouTube entirely since it's where the people are who pay me. And until Peertube (or any other decentralized platform) offers me tools that outperform YouTube for raising that money, I just can't imagine leaving. Why would I?It's not that I "do it for the money", it's that "I wouldn't be able to afford it without the money". Pretty much like most jobs? 🤷♀️
