       Did you know Monopoly was invented by a woman named Elizabeth Magie in 1903?Originally ‘The Landlord’s Game,’ it was designed as a protest against the big monopolists of her time like Carnegie & Rockefeller.But it was Charles Darrow, an unemployed salesman, who eventually sold it to Parker Brothers after playing a version. Parker Brothers credited Monopoly with saving their company. Magie died in 1948 without recognition. Darrow became very wealthy & his legend lives on. #history #women

       @Sheril 'Tis a shame when people pass on without recognition, such as Grunya Sukhareva who contributed research on Autism before Kanner and Asperger did. She was forgotten because her papers didn't reach the Anglosphere, but may have reached or influenced the research of the aforementioned people.In Liz Magie's case, she held a patent (twice) only to sell it for $500. She fell into the corporate trap of signing her rights away so she couldn't win anything outside financial reimbursement for the fruits of her creativity.
