Much Twitter activism should be taken with a grain of salt.In fact, I think a whole lot of people already do take Twitter activism with a grain of salt. Hence why the term "slacktivism" exists.That is to say that a whole lot of it is performative in nature.Which is why I'm very leery when people say things like, "There's important work going on with Twitter right now."Okay, some of it is -- in certain exceptional circumstances -- but most of it isn't.

@atomicpoet a lot of it is Political Hobbyism. Eitan Hersh wrote a great book about it.

@atomicpoet - 90% of Twitter Activism, and I'd daresay 90% of ANY social media activism is essentially only one step up from "thoughts and prayers".It's a small number of users who back up their social media support with actual boots on the ground.Maybe I'm just a cynic.
