@m0urs@social.urspringer.de I've been here for a while, it just seems that #Mastodon users are very much against ever hearing someone criticize any of their actions. It's like they strive towards being in a bubble where nobody ever disagrees with them.Might just be confirmation bias on my end, though.

@tyil Same experience here. Either there is no discussion at all before blocking, or you are discussing for a while and if you are not willing to change your opinion to what they think is right, they block you afterwards.

@m0urs@social.urspringer.de Perhaps it's got to do with the mindset of people that seek out (large) #Mastodon instances. They're usually #Twitter refugees, and the consensus over there seemed to be "if you don't agree with me completely, you're supporting Nazis". These people found Mastodon through the marketing campaign/strategy, which promotes the idea that Mastodon is the only alternative.

@tyil Not sure. Most often these are very left-winged people and they were on the Fediverse far before the Twitter dscussions. I guess that is how these people are thinking about freedom of opinion. Only their opinion counts :-) However, I have learned to live with that.

@m0urs@social.urspringer.de The ironic part is that I'm also quite left-leaning, but they don't really care about your opinions or intentions if you don't virtue signal hard enough. I feel generally more welcomed in places that are more openly right-leaning, because those places don't hate people solely because their opinions differ.

@tyil Takes all kinds :-) Not sure this is typical for Mastodon. But generally I feel I'm better off being blocked by or blocking people I'm not compatible with, independent of the underlying technology.

@tyil people are weird, my favorite is when they tell you that they are blocking you and you are still waiting to go through on their actions…
