@stux State and Belief should be separate. Belief is for imaginary things, and is required to make them "real".If you limit to just "religions", new ones will spread in their place. Religion is simply documented imaginary things and events, thus required belief to exist. Belief is the pathogen, religion is the disease.

@stux so I’ll start some actual discussion and say that’s about not having an official state religion, wherein only members of that religion can hold government office. It has never been about public officials having no religious views or not shaping policy based on their views.Everyone has beliefs (see every reply to OP) and it is unreasonable to say they can’t act according to those beliefs.
