In my federated timeline there's a huge wave of machine generated posts/accts they all seem to end with activitypub-troll.cf @ruud although they're not from Mastodon.world is this ok (generally) and is there a simple way to take them out of my timeline?

@thechildofroth Yes you can select 'Block domain' in the posts's menu. I'll look into that account further

@ruud Thanks. I've used the 'block domain' now too but as noted they're they're still coming in because they all have a different id between the @ and the . I can't see a way to block all of activitypub-troll.cf (which isi the common feature of all the accts)

@thechildofroth@ruud Mastodon allows you to block a domain. Right click on the incriminated toot. You might want to report to your instance admin as well

@jfparis @ruud Thanks! Domain blocking doesn't seem to work because each bot acct appears to have it's own server (the bit after the @ and before the dot seems to be unique) I've added activitypub-troll.cf to a content filter but I can still see them in the fedi timeline. I believe Ruud (tagged here) is my instance admin/owner and I've also submitted a formal report on the matter too.

@thechildofroth@ruud Not sure I understand. Can you put a few of the names in a response? Maybe replace the @ with AT so we don't notify them

@jfparis @thechildofroth domain blocking worked. It apparently also blocked the subdomains. The usernames were abcdef@lkjhgf.activitypub-troll.cf

@ruud@thechildofroth Where did you block them? In the federation admin tab?

@jfparis @thechildofroth yes. Just the main domain. Not the thousands sub domains
