What in his post do you think is a problem, @rich ? I don't understand what you are reporting here. @Leyonhjelm is making a comparison. Are you arguing he is a member of the NSDAP, or are you arguing that he is incorrect? And what are you asking me to do about it?

@intheicecreamvan @rich @Leyonhjelm Can the reporting person actually see the moderator's notes?

@fuxoft I doubt it, I think they are for internal reference. I post the reports for two reasons. One, because I get really shitty reports and would like clarification. Two, because I think public shaming is a fair penalty for worthless reports. And three, because I am interested in transparency. If people want to block @Leyonhjelm for the same reason as a stupid person did, that's their call. A stupid call, but it's theirs. If I got a genuine one for CP or something I would not publicly post it and would report it to the FBI. I'd also immediately deactivate the user. I don't need feds knocking down my door.@rich @Leyonhjelm

@intheicecreamvan @rich @Leyonhjelm Ah, OK. I am getting several reports each day just reporting my profile, either without any context at all (no citation, no comment) or with WTF engrish comments, e.g. "He reply allow nazi's, WTF?" Often I don't even see WHO is sending the report, it just says "reported by server XY".

@fuxoft I get that constantly. Usually for @Leyonhjelm. Mastodon loves to scrub the user reporting, so I usually try to infer and tag in the person involved if it matches the servers, but I suspect they probably consider that unfair since it lets @Leyonhjelm know he was reported. How dare I allow him to know his accuser.I've been on the fence about blocking reports from servers who do this stuff, but it's probably better to know it's going on than to just send it to /dev/nullUltimately every report has been a waste of time so far.@rich

@intheicecreamvan @rich @Leyonhjelm Thanks. I'd have no problem chatting with the reporter about trans issues and xer mother but you've confirmed I can't do that by design.

@fuxoft I think the Mastodon side in particular has intentionally created the system this way to try to minimize accountability for reporters in a "safe space" style. I think that's amazingly short-sighted and abuse-enabling, and also presumes moderators will probably be like-minded with the users. For local reports that may even be the case on many servers. But I don't think it's productive or helpful, especially if there's ambiguity.@rich @Leyonhjelm

@intheicecreamvan @rich @fuxoft @Leyonhjelm they will subvert any system with authorshipW all know the one authorless format/server style where they have to spend an obscene amount of resources
