This is likely--simultaneously--the most pretentious AND humbled thing I will say on the Internet (today lol).It's more of a personal anecdote related to following (and then leaving) Jung, and using that. Read on if that interests you:I'm working on a duology, a two-book fantasy "series." I've been slowly chiseling at it for a handful of years--learning by practice, trying for originality (but not for its own sake, not sacrificing genre tradition and meaning), and trying to actually make something that'll plant a seed of good in some--though be entertainment for most.When I started off, I was a huge Jung fan.I don't mean I was a huge Peterson fan and therefore knew of Jung.I mean that I read Jung's volumes.And my book's magic system was highly inspired by that.(My background is in mathematics and linguistics, and religion is a life-long interest of mine. These are tones in my book and important to note here.)A good author should research--and since my magic system was based not only on Jungian philosophy, but on language, spirituality, I read more. And more.I also knew the world was lying to me (news, sudden science, Marvel movie morality, every church I'd sought--literally dozens). I knew the lies (many, but not some big ones), but found myself grasping for truth.The last thing I would have called myself is a Christian. (I still cannot stand most circular, foundationless arguments for Christianity given by most. That isn't faith, but familiarity.)Writing my book, thinking on the difference between 'eternal' versus 'everlasting', on *how* someone might be good, on *how*--regardless of all their efforts--someone might be saved from their inevitable grotesques/twistings/imbalance of good ideals such that every ideal becomes a demon--these things took me from Jung to Christ.The magic system / world in that time has been rewrought manyfold, keeping the convincing network of thought that I saw in Jung, but now placing it as a (world-prominent, dominating) shadow within a magic system of a Christ analogy.I am glad I walked that path though.I think my book's demons and the tragedies will be more convincing.And I think the methods of the higher good will make more sense--both in a story and in our story.(I want to note that I didn't make a 1-to-1 analogy of Christ in the book; I didn't make an Aslan in a Narnia. It's more of a Lord of the Rings.)
