@Davidtoddmccarty Good insight. Dismissal is exactly how one deals with a dum dum in real life. However, Trumpism has thrived because no one calls it out for its misrepresentations. Most voters just go with the superficial and accept utterly stupid things like CRT.The left needs to get down on the voter's level, look them in the eye and say - here's what they aren't telling you. Here are the real facts and BTW, why aren't R's solving the problems you really have?

@Davidtoddmccarty I agree! What is the solution? Since I'm in Texas, I am behind enemy lines here. I know what works and that's personal relationships, but that is very difficult to scale. Building a relationship with a MAGA (non-nutty neighbor) over shared interests and over time can cause them to re-think their position. But, how do we Democrats reach the persuadable behind enemy lines at scale?

@Davidtoddmccarty D's should build their own ecosystem, but I worry that our ecosystem would be positive when fear sells for the R's. Also, D's have more nuanced and complicated positions. This is a much harder sell than Fox News simple-minded blather.Perhaps, the D ecosystem needs to be its own thing-not a mirror image of the R system. I'm thinking we should borrow from educators. Teachers are fantastic at meeting students where they are and figuring out how to reach them.

@Davidtoddmccarty @CJP i put forth a conjecture:the cultural left wing has a shallow understanding of what the right wing actually believes and lacks most of the nomenclature needed to empathize with them. combined with a more often than not pompous attitude the cultural left became the puritanical monsters they were fighting without realizing it.

@Davidtoddmccarty @CJP the linguistic divergence in the political dialects used by progressive movements prevents them from seeing just how much they have in common with everyone else. there are nutbags everywhere and because by volume most people are braindead, there is no end to them because of the law of large numbers. this is independent of political affiliation and the gated communities of the east coast metro areas are very good at insulating the affluent from the reality of just how bad things really are.

@CJP @Davidtoddmccarty i think you will be shocked just how much you would agree on when you take things written in the right's political dialect and transform it into one used by the cultural left. the order that items are approached in are inverted but the conclusions are almost indistinguishable (when transformed into a common dialect). CRT isnt as batshit as you think and you should keep an open mind and not assume the absolute worst of other people when inspecting their ideas.

@CJP @Davidtoddmccarty at current CRT is the same concern of right wing religious indoctrination done in public school, except replace Christianity with some perceived non theistic religion that promotes some evil boogieman being perpetuated in those spheres, regardless of how much it is scoffed at, the concern isnt wrong, but the perception may be and that is where the work needs to be put in to convince them it is stupid. so far, this will be an uphill battle, you will see if you dig into it.

@CJP @Davidtoddmccarty the social conservatives have a lot more data points to argue in favor of the right wing perception being more in line with observable reality. i have yet to see this dimension countered by progressives and i think it's because they cant and know it is a losing battle, so the waters are muddied.
