@Alan For fuck sake, no!Even if he's a moron. Better let Twitter die on it's own than going on the censorship slippery slope.I saw how it ended in Russia. Please, not Europe too.If we like the Internet how it is now in it's entirety we shouldn't allow our governments to ban anything there.

@skobkin I hear you. But, they're not so much banning him as demanding that he follow their rules. If he won't follow their rules - deliberately - what are they to do? We agree absolutely - censorship? No. But E must follow rules same as the rest of us.

@AlanThey could do a lot of things. For example restrict selling the ads in Europe or make another ways to generate an income more difficult of unavailable. It's much better and won't cause a precedent to extend that practice to another resources separating the Internet.

@Alan @skobkin anyone who wants to run any business in Europe must obey by the rules, it doesn’t matter how rich you are or how it will look anywhere else. It’s still baffles me how it is being mistreated for “free speech” when it has nothing to do with it

@Orangejuice @AlanInternet censorship isn't against freedom of speech. At least not only that. It's against freedom of access to the information.I can recommend reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 at this point. But seems like humanity just can't stop shooting itself in the leg. Maybe we deserve to live in our own dystopia.

@Alan @OrangejuiceYeah.That's not too dissimilar to what we have in the Fediverse. It's pretty natural due to decentralized architecture of the Internet. So suppose that we (lor.sh) are EU and some server where your friends are is Twitter/US.Suppose we don't like rules on that server and decide to block it.Doesn't sound too good, right?Restricting the income from EU is somewhat understandable leverage. But deciding which site EU citizens could visit and which couldn't isn't so good. That's for people to decide for themselves.
