Apple’s claim is that preventing or limiting their customers from making their own choices as to where they wish to express their opinions, is a defensible position.The Apple position is the same as forcing a single baker to bake a cake for people he considered filthy. And, content creators + developers are forced to make large concessions to these megacorporations who take percentages of all sales. People objected to the state restricting people’s choice (to make or not make a cake). They didn’t have the bakers’ product in hand, could still get a cake elsewhere without any hassle. They didn’t have to trash their dinner tables, cutlery, crockery.. nothing! People objecting to Apple restricting people’s choice (to download an app to a phone they already paid for). @georgetakei The gay couple could have gone to any other bakery to get a cake when that one denied them service but went out of their way to go after that one. If Apple removes the Twitter app from their app store they are eliminating the app from at least a third of the mobile phone market. They would be abusing their market share and their walled garden to deprive Twitter of those installs for no reason. The fact that Apple is part of the duopoly of the mobile phone market and has a locked down platform means they should be held to a higher standard. And I say all this as an Apple user.

I think the best solution would be something like fdroid for iPhone honestly. Who cares what either of these mammoth companies want?
