Sometimes I wish I could have a conversation with the people that leave comments on my videos. - "The presenter should be able to speak English better!" - why? why do I need to speak english better. Chrome is created and used by engineers all over the world speaking different languages... and if my english was that much unintelligible they wouldn't let me do that job right?!!What are they expecting would happen? Why is it so important to point that out?I am legit curious đŸ¤ˇâ€â™€ī¸

@tropicadri "better" ? Your videos are top quality. From seeing you talk and perform live in front of a camera I was in awe of how good you are. 🤩I honestly don't see how having a different accent would make things better if that's what they think. Imho your accent rocks and it represents all of us coming from a different non-privileged background, and that's part of what *for me* makes it really that much better. 😃

@diekus Thank you! ❤ī¸đŸ’–❤ī¸đŸ’– I think I've reached a level of acceptance that you know my accent is what it is and I like my job so though for them that they have to put up with me 😂 but I'm still curious of why the need to point that out over and over...

@tropicadri @diekus Working in a global company and speaking in english with people all around the world daily, I'm still discovering accents I'm unable to understand at first (and the same of course applies to my accent for them). It's always just a matter of time till we learn to understand any specific accent.I'd assume these comments come from people hearing your english for the first time? Luckily, video subtitles should make it easy for them in this case.

@ondra No. They're most likely ill intentioned. From people uncomfortable she's a successful Latin-American woman in tech. From people that have fragile masculinities and feel intimidated by learning from a woman in an discipline that's mostly male.I wish I tried to imply the best in people. But as a non-white immigrant in tech that has English as a non mother tongue I can see where all this is coming from because I've been on the receiving end for years.

@diekus In those cases, f*** them, of course.

@ondra @diekus yeah complex situation, there are times where those biases come up unconsciously and I you know the ever optimistic in me, wants to talk and say "it's okay it is bit harder for you to understand, it is a bit harder for me to generate content, but that is life and we can coexist just fine" no need to remind me of my accent I know 😂
