However I refuse to believe it's such a black and white thing as I believe in a merciful God. Even for those who commit suicide we do not know the state of their heart. We also do not know the state of mind they were in when they died. Think of it this way; if I tortured someone (physically, mentally or emotionally) to the point where they committed suicide who is actually guilty of murder? In the same way if a demon torments someone or they suffer from a mental health issue to the point it drives them to suicide I would not say they were guilty of murder.So suicide is a sin but depending on the circumstance the one who committed suicide may not be the guilty one (or bear the guilt alone). Also as Christ died for the forgiveness of ALL sin it is possible that in their final moments they cried out to Him for salvation.

Do you really want to live with that for Eternity though? I’ve never really thought suicide would deny you access to salvation. What if bad people are about to capture and torture you so you kill yourself before they can grab you? Are you then sent to Hell? You are correct that sometimes suicide would not be a mortal sin which would cause someone to go to hell. Perhaps they did not have full culpability due to mental illness or some other effect. There are also cases where it would be a mortal sin, but they are able to be forgiven between the time they begin committing suicide and the time they die. For instance St. John Vianney mentioned an instance that he knew of where a man jumped off a bridge to kill himself, but through a miracle God allowed him to be perfectly contrite and forgiven before he landed and died. So it seems we are mostly in agreement. I just wanted to emphasize that people should not kill themselves thinking that it is no big deal. We cannot know for sure but I would expect most instances of suicide don't fall into these categories. Thank you friend.

The examples that comes to mind is a bunch of women and children choosing to commit suicide rather than being raped, tortured, and then having their limp bodies puppeteered into giving a sacrifice to an idol. - Ilyin makes a clear distinction between certain acts that are evil because of their nature and evil bcause of the intent behind them. Killing someone is an example of an act where the intent is what matters. Killing a pedo in self defence isn't wrong, but killing a hobo for fun is. I agree. I think he made us and gave us free-will. And to have free will, even to make poor choices, we couldn’t be all knowing. By then the persecution had ended and there is no trace of schism (Maxentius restored the church property to Miltiades)

As I have defined suicide, it is purposely taking of ones own life. If you are placed into a position where you could save your life but do not, so like hanging yourself or shooting yourself or cutting deep wounds to bleed out with a desire to die are attempted suicide, but taking a handful of Tylenol isn't, because you don't really have that expectation.In the same way, strapping a bomb to your chest and setting it off is, because any other harm you cause is secondary to the reality you will not survive this, even if you are the only person who dies. Jesus entered a situation where He knew he was going to die, could have stopped it, and did not. I'm not trying to be edgy, just a factual interpretation from my point of view. He of course did it for a very good reason. In fact He HAD to die as it was His entire purpose. How is that different from a suicide bomber (besides the obvious)? A suicide bomber has to die as well, because their death is contingent on their bomb going off. They are inextricably linked. I could die without the bomb going off, but the bomb can't go off without killing me.Jesus wasn't uncertain about His outcome, any more than the Japanese men who went into Fukishima were about theirs. They all knew they were going to die from radiation. That is effectively suicide, but done for a noble cause.

I'm only arguing the whether or not is sinful and/or would cause someone to go to hell, not whether White men should do it. Unquestionably none should, unless they are faced with some sort of strong reason to, like a horribly slow and painful, imminent death from cancer.
