But I wound up on three domains' blocklists anyway.Admins who wish to keep signups open should always strike a balance between reach and restrictions, otherwise it can harm their users' reach. Further, turning off MRF transparency is highly sketchy and not conducive to trust. It's shadowbanning.Among Pleroma instances, my moderation style is quite restrictive. But as I've gotten to interact with y'all, I know that you say those things not because you really mean them, but because you like your space.I get that. Still problematic though 😒

This instance is using the software we chose because we think it's the best, not because of ideological stances. No well-adjusted, ordinary person cares what software someone else is using unless it has some sort of practical implications. I'm not going to worry myself if unhinged people decide to block this instance.In my opinion, I find it rather eerie how close there is a parallel to abusive relationships when it comes to some defederation attitudes. Abusers will try to isolate you from communicating with others and attempt to control the information you're exposed to, they cut you off from communicating with others so that they are the source of truth, the only people you can confide in and use this to manipulate you into doing what they want. The abusers always appears to have all the knowledge of events going on outside and know what's best, they will tell you how you should think about something, but there will often not have much to show to prove their claims or use common falacies to prove it.It's ironic how often the defederation demands come from people who claim it's necessary to prevent abuse, while holding so many parallels to an abuser themselves.
