I may stop hating Musk so much if he added a block feature to Twitter that actually worked. I never want to see the blocked person again, or them to see anything I tweet to anybody ever. I don't want them injecting 💩 into my threads. Fake accounts used for circumvention? Immediate ban.😱

@allenholub the fundamental issue is that Twitter is private property. You have zero control by design.

@djangoYeah, but we don't have much control of Mastodon, either. I could fork it, I suppose, but a forked version that made significant changes would probably be banned by other servers. Anyway, it looks like, if @Gargron doesn't like it, it doesn't happen. Not that different from Twitter.

@allenholub @django Not really. You could fork Mastodon or even write your own "ActivityPub-based social network" and it could be interoperable. See https://infosec.exchange/@tinker/109303871871567699

@drewler @django Can you give me an example of a forked system that interoperates seamlessly with Mastodon using ActivityPub. I'd like to see one in action.

I'm commenting on this post from Friendica, which is not Mastodon but communicates with Mastodon servers using ActivityPub.
