@darklem0n @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux I'd suggest VSCodium instead though, VSCode sends telemetry back to MS.

@Taffer @darklem0n @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux I spoke with some people that believed that AI was mandatory for syntax colouring in code editors (a mean by MS to get all your code for analysis ^^)…. I answered in 1990s there was already syntax colouring, he said that was not possible. Here is a screenshot of 1990 Turbo C++ on MS-DOS, Borland C++ has it too.

@popolon @Taffer @darklem0n The same source code opened with the GNOME text editor, then Kate (below), then Note. None of them have AI I think, and yet they all have syntax highlighting.

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @popolon @Taffer syntax highlighting has nothing to do with AI. You can enable syntax highlighting in nano, or vi/vim. It’s just a ruleset.

@darklem0n @Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @Taffer I know :). It’s not only ruleset, there is relatively simple text analysis, but you give ruleset to the analyzer. Some people those days think that AI are everywhere :).

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @Taffer @darklem0n I personally like Geany, it is very light. Only one (very important think) is missing, is saving all opened tabs in a whole project, to switch easily between projects.

@darklem0n @popolon @Taffer Yes you all are right, in fact I don't know anything about it. But when popolon was talking about Turbo C++, I thought that there are many other editors under Linux that did the same thing. Except that an AI can certainly do better, but that's out of my field of competence (which is very limited anyway :))

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @popolon @Taffer I’m not sure than an AI can “certainly” do better. AI isn’t a panacea

@popolon @Taffer @darklem0n It looks very good Geany, I will enter it into the database after the current entry (Linux Stopmotion currently in progress). Thanks

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @Taffer @darklem0n An old page, but I try to add them time by time about animation software, I exchanged a bit on IRC with Linux Stopmotion devs mybe 10 years ago… https://popolon.org/animation/logiciels_animation.html Maybe you will found some interesting animation software for your database, feel free to reuse it.

@Le_bottin_des_jeux_linux @Taffer @darklem0n I will redo my website, that’s 15 year old content in most parts, not reflect at all what I do today (only gblog3 follow me a bit, but I want to remove wp since at least 5 years for a static blog generator with Git content management and sqlite db

@popolon @Taffer @darklem0n wow thank you very much. Great resource. The difficulty in searching for software is that we are confronted with many dead or unusable projects because they are buggy. I don't want to enter this type of project into the database because it's a lot of input work for software that is often unusable as is.But here I see a lot of live entries.
