For iOS users @dj2mn recommends trying out Metatext - The interface is nicely laid out and clean. How does this compare with other's experience in app or web?

@dj2mn @SDF I’ve been playing with it. If you’re a birdville migrator, it will look familiar. It’s clean and highly functional. Definitely agree it’s the one i tend to use more.

@dj2mn @SDF I definitely prefer #MetaText over the web UI on #iOS. Nothing wrong with the #Mastodon web UI. It's a good mobile web UI as those things go. But the iOS platform is designed to favor native apps. So if you are going to use the same device repeatedly, I'd install the app.

@SDF Its missing 4.0 features yet is still my favorite iOS client.It's been slow getting updates, but has picked up recently. The maker, @metabolist, is on Mastodon and has made version announcements there.

@SDF @dj2mn I like Metatext mostly. I think they should allow edit post. For some reason they don't. And I can't get the images to show the original image aspect ratio on it. It also doesn't have the "explore" features I find here. Some other things might be missing too. But it's good if I want to use my phone to access.

@SDF @dj2mn , I started out on the Android Mastodon app, but found it rather clunky and unreliable. I now use the Web UI on all devices. Both the mobile and desktop versions are quite well designed, and they play well with the accessibility tools and settings I need as a vision-impaired user. The one pain point is the desktop web UI's post/reply entry widget, which does not play well with a11y. I filed a bug about this problem.https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/19821

@SDF @dj2mn Hopefully the official app will get to a point where it has full features parity with the WebUI. The it’s up to all other clients to beat it and be innovative, which is a good place to be.

@SDF @dj2mn also played around with tooot, which seemed a bit cleaner then metatext is, but it seemed to collect some data, ultimately settled on metatext and webui as backup if something does not seem right.

@SDF look rather than admitting we made a mistake I think I’ll just make it so any time you are referring to kl(aüs) you can also refer to it as #only1klaus because those non alpha chars just fuck up so many parsers 😂

@SDF @lardmotel and also yeah what to do about a band presence is my next project. Band has domain name. Domain name means ability to host own instance and identity in the #fediverse. If I was a VC type (yuck, but bear with me) I’d be investing in some sort of mastodon identity SaaS thingy. No wait forget that. If I was bandcamp I’d be looking into providing artists with an instance that also hosts their videos and wotnot on toobnix and stuff. Yes I’m off on one of my thinks..

@dj2mn @SDF Metatext is the app I primarily use as well. I still pop in from the web interface and sometimes the official Mastodon app but those times are for specific tasks.

@dj2mn @SDF #Metatext is where it’s at if you’re on #iOS. far superior to the #Mastodon app, imho. buy even mobile web is better than the official app, somehow.
