@ParadeGrotesque When I'm on those sorts of trips, I try and get some exploring in. I think of myself like a alien visitor, exploring the mundane. Find something that local's would consider fairly boring: the local library, or a shopping center (but a center w/ at least a few non-chain places).I just walk around and try to be present. It's amazing how often I think about some random experience I had while doing that. Somehow, there's novelty in the mundanity of it all.

Day 5 of the 5 days business trip.Slept very badly. Today is grueling already, and I have a 6h flight back home late tonight.At least I am flying business. I'll still be dead tired tomorrow.

@ParadeGrotesque I'm not a fan of business trips in general, I have to admit. Sometimes it is worth the overhead to meet the actual humans involved (for example I'm looking forward to meeting my remote team next week for the first time, some of whom I've been working with for years).But the bad sleep, enforced continuous socialization (you may have met people more introverted than me, but it's statistically unlikely), and travel inevitiably combine into something deeply tiring.

Decadent business lounge is decadent.I mean, TRULY decadent. We are one small step away from Ancient Rome here, folks.Then again, Ancient Rome did not have the truly annoying alarm that had been ringing for one hour now.I am going to hit the bars to try and forget about it.
