#ADHD peeps, do you find "ADHD traps" in modern UIs? What are the most prevalent ones that you've seen, and do you think they signify good design for being engaging, or bad design because they suck you in?#Design #UX

I'll speak for myself, I find big ones in #Spotify. It's so easy to find other artists and new playlists under an artist page, and playlist pages usually link to other playlists too.I'm not sure if I should view this as bad design (dark patterns), or not. But it definitely gets me to waste time...

@realcaseyrollins Infinitely scrolling UIs of any kind, especially ones that preload content ahead of the scroll region. They're specifically designed to hold engagement within the app. This is also why several apps discourage links to external sites in various ways, trying to make sure you go back to the app. (Facebook, Instagram both do this). If the goal is "keep the user in the app for as long as possible", then technically it's good design, but it's also definitely a trap.
