@dem32 I'm clearing it out now but I'm having to clear out media more often than I normally would and that's likely due to all the new instances. We have the largest plan from hetzner and the server we are moving to is actually smaller in terms of disk. I might need to configure S3 storage but I'm not looking forward to that.

@rootbsd @dem32 I had to turn off caching for misskey. I'm wondering if I can turn off caching for mastodon as well, that would solve the problem.

@dem32 It caches it so the remote server only sends it once. Problem is that it eats up storage. I had an inbetween plan which would use block storage as opposed to S3 but I converted back to standard because I increased the plan size. The provider I'm moving to doesn't have block storage, they actually don't have a lot of features but I like the company better than hetzner.

@rootbsd @dem32 @nerdtronics The local content isn't the issue, 3 GiB is less than 1% of our storage it's federated content.

@james @splitshockvirus @rootbsd @dem32 But you have your own server, can you cache starnix there?

@james @rootbsd @dem32 That's been the policy since like 3.5.3 or earlier. If the post still exists on the remote server it will fetched, unless the post was deleted, which even if it was cached here it would also be removed.
