I’m struggling. What do you do when speaking to people who have some degree of privilege, but who then say “I’m too scared to speak up on behalf of myself or someone else about important social justice issues”?Continued gentle nudging? Continual highlighting of the fact their are those with less power and agency? I’ll be honest; sometimes I just want to scream…

@seis_matters Could you explain to this person that perhaps they can still make a positive difference with their inherent privileges by elevating the voices of the underprivileged who are brave enough to speak up? I have come to accept that some well-meaning privileged folks don’t use their privileges because of fragility against being cancelled or labelled. Surely there are some fine examples of privileged folks helping a cause without centering themselves… 💁🏾‍♀️

@i_jayas @seis_matters This is what I try to do. I grew up with pretty intense social phobia due to being neurodivergent and being bullied for it. I have always struggled with putting myself "out there" in a way that will draw attention. So I boost/retweet/etc the voices of people who say what I wanted to say, especially if they are from marginalised communities.
