       so this explains it - for some reason it decided to install a 2009 security update a couple weeks back, a bunch of Office 2007 updates, and on the 4th of June it installed a **May 2019** security update

       @flaky in my case it installed an update from 13 years ago, apparently it just forgot lolas for the 2019 updates - that was when POSReady 2009 was killed off, so I had those updates enabled too

       @flaky @cleanycloth where I work, we have some esoteric scientific instruments connected to XP boxesout solution was to disconnect the box from the internet, and use USB sticks to move data; since only have to move a few Mby once a week or so, it worksgod help us if some New Employee connects the machine by mistake:)
