@Shadowman311 the electric seat heaters are already on a subscription model. I personally am in favor of this, as the high end model costs the same to produce as the low end model, and having a software unlock give you the possibility of cracking it. imagine having an RTX4060 that you can upgrade to an RTX4090 with a subscription. The two cards cost the same to make. But if you had this ability, you could crack this subscription model and get the higher end for free.

So you could unlock those seat warmers with custom firmware. But eventually it is going to phone home. Now there is risk of the car getting bricked or some other adverse action. Hopefully not while driving.Only place a comouter belongs in a car is the stereo system so you can Bluetooth your phone in.

@KashKustomer @Shadowman311 true, but I'll rather take my chances. i have a jailbroken iphone with cydia that can run any pirated app. only a matter of time before the platform gets cracked wide open. there are very few things I haven't been able to crack. them turning something into a paperweight is only temporary. its a skill issue. most people aren't aware that most gas/diesel engines these days are also actually the same size and that they electronically set the displacement. i see all of this as opportunity not as a loss of freedom. besides by the time I will pay attention to these vehicles they will be a few years older as I'm not buying niggertech new.

There are already people who have gotten Linux to boot on the series x with an exploit. even the switch has been cracked already with hwfly modchip. its just an android tablet. and private multiplayer servers have been created to bypass the official. Yet when that modified switch, xbox, or ps5 phones home for updates or other dumb shit... Eventually they will detect the modified device and then attempt to brick it. Only way to possibly avoid it is for custom updates. The average grug doesn't have time to apply custom patches after modding something. And if they have pay someone else to do it regularly to maintain detection evasion introduces a different subscription model. At least now your money is going to someone else I guess. The better solution is to not have to pay for parts on something you bought to operate. If they don't want people to have heated cushions then don't sell them or make the seats easy to replace so people can buy them.

@moomin @Shadowman311 Definite thrill with being able to do that. had an OG xbox I modded and had a gamefly membership so every few days I could rip a new disk right to the hard drive. Ryzen Decks definitely look fun as hell but I've got a gaming rig so I don't see the practicality. As for consoles, only one worth a damn is a switch. Only one with any actual exclusive titles (metroid, zelda, mario). Tried to do smash bros local multi player with 4 players via emulator. Got everything configured and the machine could handle it (i7 8700k/GTX 1660 Super at the time). Everything looked ready to go and then the bluetooth 5.0 adapter shat the bed because it couldn't handle 4 controllers at once. Don't have that problem on the console because it was built to handle it. So there's some tradeoffs when going with emulators. Single player games on the other hand... different story.

If you look at the 3090 and 3060 die they are essentially the same within the same generation, with just some sections physically removed. The physical silicon between the 3090 and 3060 is likely less than a few cents each. probably less than $30 per chip cost. you're paying for the R&D not the physical silicon. it could be 4x the size and would cost the same. the physical silicon is relatively inexpensive.GA102 vs GA106 vs AD102. AD102 is actually smaller than GA102, despite being 50% faster.

A 3060 is a shaved down 3090 for GPU cores, but that's lower end cards come out later. You aim to make a 3090, and the silicon that can't make the cut but can function under a lower specification becomes the lower end card.

It isn't an I3 until the Stealership unlocks the other 3 cylinders.Stoichiometric A/F and emissions are the limitations. The 6.2l GM V8 with DOD still has 4 cylinders going at all times, and that 3.1l needs to be fed, cooled, and emissions controlled.Quite a bit, too, as 3.1l is bigger than a lot of 6 cylinder engines.
