@LadyMont I was reading the statistics a while back about the % of cancer patients whose relationships break up during treatment etc. A vast majority were male partners who'd left their wives and girlfriends after their diagnosis. Which seeing is what would secure the needed help.Too many women feel dirty and ashamed after an assault because society as a whole says "she was raped" not "he is a rapist" like it's weather and just inevitable.

@HebrideanHecate @TriptychTwins-partdeux @PennyLope When I had Babyfat jr curtains were only to be drawn if exams were in progress and male partners had to leave from 7am-7pm even if mum is due to be induced etc. and one of the nurses told me it’s to prevent this sort of thing, she said she had walked in on all sorts, as it was there was a couple on the same ward where the woman let the man roll on the bed and her in the chair because “he had a backache sitting in the hard chair”.

@Ladyfat @HebrideanHecate @TriptychTwins-partdeux Mr Lope had to be gotten a chair when I was in labour because he almost fainted when they put my drip in...but he'd have had to have fallen and gushing blood from his forehead before I'd give up my bed for him. I think it's great they turf out men on labour wards, those places are hell enough without that shit. One midwife was telling me they often have to get security guards on because some husbands don't think this rule applies to them, or they think its OK to come back around 10 and demand to be given access when they know its reduced staff. They're often the ones who take proper umbrage with being asked to leave when the midwives need to check for domestic abuse.

@TriptychTwins-partdeux @Ladyfat @PennyLope I’m not in favour of men in the labour wards, to be honest.When I had mine the men tended to visit at normal hoursand as many of us were away from home for up to 3 weeks,on a different island, no maternity other than there, and didnot always have any friends or family to hand, they oftendid shopping runs for the women to get anything they neededfrom the town. Apparently, when son was with DIL they were seriously shortof nurses on the ward, scarily so, she said they said he wasvery useful! He is used to animals in labour on the croft thoughand as a farmer’s daughter nurse said, it showed 😂 She wasin a side ward and alone, so would not have been very reassuringfor her due to the lack of staff.
