       My son has been working on small #GameDev projects and just yesterday decided he wanted to do his own music and asked about the wonderful #lmms -- he loves #chiptune 8-bit sounds and this morning sent me a track that sounded like a boss fight from #nes days.He's interested in sharing (having the #creativecommons talk!!!)        @K_REY_C @ginsterbusch @ne7, @vim ... can you give a few words on chiptune, the scene, and so on?I'll follow up in a bit with things on the demoscene in general.(Sometimes people point to a film called 'Moleman 2' which is a good introduction to the overall scene, but as we're talking music here, let's ... focus on that at first.)

       @Truck @K_REY_C @ginsterbusch @ne7 I'd say people making #chiptune in the #demoscene largely use tracker software like Protracker and FastTracker 2 - https://16-bits.org/ or ImpulseTracker (SchismTracker on modern computers - http://schismtracker.org/ ), but also a variety of chip-trackers to numerous to mention on all kinds of platforms. Tons of module files are freely downloadable from The Mod Archive - https://modarchive.org/ Not 100% up on CC and the like, didn't really have all that back in the day,. Freedom and sharing were paramount, things like copyright and the like weren't really at the forefront of people's minds.
