Can anyone explain "circles" to me? Is this a general Mastodon feature or unique certain instances?

@hbw its just an audience you wish to share your toots with.. you define a circle then when you toot you canspecify it as a privacy option and only they see it.

@freemo Thank you! Is this a Mastodon-wide feature?

@hbw circles is a feature only availible on QOTO but it works when specifying an audience that is not on QOTO.

@freemo I am sure it is user error, but I was unable to add people to a test circle. For example, I searched for your handle (I follow you) in the search circles search field and nothing came up. I tried other handles I follow and nothing came up.
