Sorry if this is a weird question — are there any #autistic #mastoAdmins here? How do you deal with the social norms in the Fediverse? I can’t even decide on what rules I should have, let alone how to enforce it ><I feel like I might not be cut out to moderate a space. That’s fine too, I’ll put my effort towards making it easier for others to host their own spaces ^^Edit: useful resource here https://frameshiftconsulting.com/resources/code-of-conduct-book/

@ignis I am struggling with the same issue. Not really a social person, but I have the tech skills, so I created an instance. Now i hesitate to fully open registration until I can get more clarity on these things.

@perlman @ignis Running an open instance can increase cognitive load. Has the potential to swallow your life.maybe roll single instance for a few months and see if your temperature changes. during that time you may find co-admin to provide air coverage.

I was in hypnogogic state when I first responded. With the #fediverse there's no gospel or explicit rules which makes it both a plus and a minus for some.I'd suggest adopting policies for your instance that you feel comfortable with. No matter how hard you try to comply with other federated instances CoC/ToS/AuP you're going to find one (if not many) that disagree with your stance or rules. If you have a trusted person in your circle, maybe they can moderate and/or help you surface the rules of engagement. But I would advise to start small. For instance if you're worried about people on your instance harassing other people, make that a rule. This is your instance and it's up to you what you are willing to tolerate (or not). There's lost of fedi admins around who are happy to help or you may see other instances whose rules you agree with and choose to adopt. For many, this is experimental and new. Folks who hit the eject button on social platforms to come to the Fediverse will often fall into the decision fatigue trying to decide how to moderate, what rules and policies to set, and even what their instance theme is.Sometimes the best route is to just let it flow naturally. Run single instance for a while, interact where you're comfortable with other admins and infra/dev folks who run this stuff. Ask lots of questions.I'm currently rebuilding a machine but am hosting a single-user instance until I decide what I am willing to deal with. In the end it may be nothing and I leave it single instance. For me the important part is having your own castle and avoiding the mainstream systems. If you have specific questions maybe I can narrow scope.

Quite welcome. As I mentioned I'm no expert, but I'm learning as I go. Probably like the rest of us.
