       7 years ago, related this story about caged animals with broken psyches: https://davelane.nz/fear-freedom Wouldn't it be shameful if WSL2 is a necessary step in the rehabilitation of most computer users after a lifetime of learnt helplessness from digital incarceration? Wouldn't it be deeply tragic if the corporation who perpetrated that incarceration for its own gain wasn't held to account? I think so.

       @lightweight Its not the experience of all windows usersif you get lucky to be exposed to a few things (maybe something cool you saw, or a ytoube video on x tool, etc) as did I. More or less the first experice in that case is a mix of confusion and frustration. Persistance gets you though that.But your thoughts probably arent too far from the truth with fully new users. Either that or they hate on linux/bsd because their ego or something.

       @theorytoe @lightweight I think we've all experienced something close to it."Where's the control panel??""Wait. I have to edit what?!?"It took me multiple goes (albeit it was back in the 90's) to get there and I don't think I had realized I'd completely moved until I was complaining about X-Windows not working out of the box while I was having to swap out video cards to get Windows going.
