Anyone who is knowledgable in rifles. I am thinking of getting another rifle, something a tad larger than an old Remington 550-1 22LR - was thinking something like a Mossberg 817 which is 17HMR - And no, I do not hunt...just to have and the ammo is not toooo expensive either - THOUGHTS? #guns #rifle #input #comment

@TheRedWarlock .223/5.56 is going to be way more versatile and easier to find than .17HMR

@fishboy56 any suggestions on a good "general rifle" in those ammo types? I don't hunt...so its more to have and range shoot

@TheRedWarlock AR is obviously the go to, but there are other ones. Ruger Mini-14 for example. Also a bunch of bolt actions.

@fishboy56 @TheRedWarlock please don’t mini 14; any ar-15 is great; palmetto state armory is a good price to performance balance Also just to let you know, the HMT 17 is a **smaller** round than the 22LR; it’s a 17 in a 22LR Magnum cartridge basically, so small and fastAll that said get something chambered in 556 and then you can plink both 223 or 556
