I’m starting a podcast on podcast production early next year. We’re thinking about trying Zencastr as hosting platform. Anyone know if it’s a good idea? They are pretty new when it comes to hosting and distribution, right?

@horrificnathan It was news to me as well. It was my co-host that thought that we could give them a try.We didn't want to go the Anchor route this time, since the more I learn about Spotify and podcasts, the less I want to support them 😅

@kwarnberg @horrificnathan I self host, but if I were going to go with a podcast host company, I would go with one that has a longer track record vs a new player. Hosting is a bear of a business and hosting companies have a tendency to go out of business quickly. @Todd_Blubrry has a great hosting company called blubrry that I used to use. They are the ones that make the free wordpress plugin PowerPress.

@Medus @kwarnberg @horrificnathan with over 100,000 shows working with us. We have a pretty good reputation and infrastructure to handle really any type of show plus our stats are pretty world-renowned. Definitely gives a try for 30 days plus you get a free WordPress site with a hosting account and lots of tools, that no one else has even thought of.

@medus @kwarnberg @Todd_Blubrry of all companies new to hosting, I'd imagine Zencaster would have some staying power given they've been in the industry (just not hosting) for a while now. That said, I don't know how they are. Do ads matter? If so, do they do DAI? Are they IAB 3.x compliant? How easy is distribution? Do they integrate with YouTube (does that matter to you)? Lots of questions, and most of them are up to you.

@horrificnathan @kwarnberg @Todd_Blubrry Yep, you just gotta weigh out what you are looking for and make a decision. I like to do everything myself, because I am as much into the tech side as the content creation side, and I don't do ads at all, so I don't have to worry about that part of it. I should do better to keep up with what host have what, for conversations like this.
