@NanoRaptor this was an actual product that was sold by a company called "Touchstream", and was called the MacNTouch. The keyboard on an iBook could be clipped out and this full touch surface keyboard could be installed in its place. The company was bought by apple, it's products killed and the touch sensitive tech used in the iphone.

@NanoRaptor This seems like a bad idea in so many points 🤔 First is tactile feedback. Writing on a touchscreen is awful, sure, there can be some vibration and whatnot but still...Also, if doing that why not put just one big touchscreen? it's not like it would be much more expensive (if anything, it would be cheaper, less components to process the different displays).The only good thing as others stated is being one "keyboard" fits all

@NanoRaptor That doesn't look like a great typing experience. But an e-ink screen on each individual key would be cool. Great for getting rid of localisations (except for the US keyboard which has fewer keys and a horizontal Enter key).

@NanoRaptor NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!I actually liked the Touch Bar, but it has since failed on my intel MacBook Pro from work. Sometimes it turns on on boot, flashing as if trying to induce epilepsy in me. After a while it just dies, and for a few boot cycles it stays dead.My next MBP has been ordered by my employer. 14”, 64GiB RAM, the M1 Max with “only” 24 GPUs. Hopefully no dead battery and SMC issues (2 MBPs ago), no keyboard issues (previous MBP), and, well, no dead touch bar.
