#FediBlock infosec.exchange will be hosting the official account of CISA, The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, (part of Homeland Security). My decision to block them and to call for more to as well will likely have serious professional repercussions for myself. However, this is an ACAB account, and the community I have here is one where "spot the fed" actually means something. No feds on the fediverse.

@LexYeen Indeed. And at the same time 1 in 12 Americans work or are Feds. They are community too.I understand your point. They should open an instance. I still think blocking entire instances because Feds is not a positive outcome.

@joepie91 @polymerwitch Probably! Lol 🤣The fact is that we are all a community. Some nerds, other anarchists, other feds, cops, ponci schemers, etc.It is not like we have to agree all on everything. We don't have to follow them, they are there though and that's how a fediverse so diverse should work.

@tastytea @polymerwitch we litigated this a few months ago, being a "member" of Infragard is roughly like being a Macy's "member" or having a driver's license in your pocket (a "member" of the DMV.) You get newsletters in your email about whatever malware or hacking activities are floating around before they hit a press release, that's about it. I don't even think you pay money.Like screw the feds, but Infragard and CISA are incredibly benign.

@tastytea @polymerwitch like if you're in the business of ensuring that your city's power plant or water supply isn't getting hacked by a government or ransomware cartel, and you're not subscribed to every source of threat information, are you doing your job properly? If you see in your logs that North Korea is trying to use an exploit against medical ventilators, and you don't report that, are you doing the right thing?(To be clear I'm not associated)

The only thing my membership in Infragard got me was an entry in HIBP when they had a data breach many years ago. LOL.

@hazelnot @polymerwitch In Mastodon each person can block them or mute them, temporary o permanently, by user or entire instances. Mastodon has far more powerful tools than Twitter for that.We keep our options open if these sites can still federate. If you block an account of a federal agency, they will not see you at all, and you are safe in the other side of the wall you define
