So I'm a #ruby developer and I live in #vermont . I made an account on http://ruby.social and I like its local feed. But I also like the local feed at https://vermont.masto.host/ -- but I don't want to migrate my main account there.* Should I create a new account on the Vermont server and swap between them?* If I enable Advanced Search can I make one of my columns display the local feed from a different instance?@james@ruby.host @brendanas admins do you have opinions / advice / preferences?#Mastodon

@alexch @brendan the official mastodon client and web interface won't let you "follow" another instance's public feed, but some clients (e.g. Toot! on iOS) will. You can also maintain multiple accounts (which most clients support), and then decide what to post where. If I were you, I'd probably keep a single account, and then use a third-party client to peep on your other instance's public timeline. But there's no wrong way to do it 😄 Hope that's useful!

@james Too bad you can't follow an instance using the web app.
