       one thing I am confused, and also kinda sad about is that a platform that just popped out of nowhere and is shady as hell is more inclining to users to try it out (Hive) than something that has matured over quite some time, while still rough around the edges (Mastodon, or other fedi software)

       I, for one, have given up trying every single social media site in existancebecause managing multiple sites is a pain in the ass already, and while I'm not a tinfoil hat, I do care about my data at least a tiny bit and don't hand it off to the next best platform at random.

       @pixel on second inspection of the site they do have an iOS app now.The site is just confusing. It shows only an android icon on the top navigation bar but says "Request to join Android Beta" at the bottom of the page along with "Download on App Store" for iOS.The android button in the nav bar leads to a trampoline page that leads to the Play Store page, indicating that it's already released.This doesn't add up. The landing page is hacked together.

       @lain @pixel people are weirdly put off by the concept of federation, I guess its too technical for them despite using email for decades.There's also the fact people are now used to everything being polished looking and 'easy'. Fedi takes some work. 🤷‍♀️Guess we'll always be that "nerd thing" and that's kinda okay with me.

       @Polychrome @lain people are beginning to understand the whole concept of email less and less too, since the platforms more often just require their phone numbers instead of a mail (or both).There is always UX to be improved in fedi software, but I really don't like the "don't think" approach modern social media got into the heads of some people.
